Looking for Collaborators to Help Develop a Communication App

During the last two months of lockdown, when situations were changing by the hour, by the minute, I witnessed uncertainty, confusion, frustration, anger, sadness, grief, cheer, and happiness among the fellow industry business owners and professionals.

I was one of them.

Some were looking for how to apply for financial aid, some were waiting to find out if getting PPP was the right decision to make for their business. Some were confused as to why the worker's relief fund page got shut down within an hour of accepting an application.

The announcement of the stimulus check brought us relief. Yet, waiting for it to arrive brought confusion and grief to some, as the IRS site was unable to verify the eligibility and inform when the check was coming.

As I witnessed the whole situation unfold, it became apparent one of the main causes of frustration and confusion came from a lack of information.

I started to think about what I could do to help others in need. I don't have millions of dollars to give away. Still, I could give the information they are looking for to find an organization offering financial aid.

This thinking led me to put together an emergency resources page to find the information they need to solve the problem they were facing.

I used Facebook groups for Chefs and Restaurant owners, emails, texting, phone calls. I used whatever I could to find information.

As useful as those tools are, they have some limitations.

Some of the issues I found are:

  • Too much information (comments, threads, topics)

  • Hard to filter information

  • Sometimes, it takes too long to find the information you are looking for

  • Lack of Search function to look for specific threads or comments

  • Too many different apps, portals, channels, and groups to keep track of

To solve these problems, the idea I came up is this: A communication tool for a closed group of industry folks to get the information they need to run and work in the industry. T

The app will help us find what we need faster and more effectively so that we don't have to look around everywhere online, every app we have. The app technology will help us. The community will help each other.

I looked around to see if there is an app like this, but so far, I haven't found one.

So, I decided to build this app, and this is where you come in.

If this project sounds interesting to you, I would like you to consider becoming a collaborator.

Here is what I am looking for in a collaborator:

  • Work or run a business in Restaurant and Food Industry

  • Can answer questions about how you communicate with workers, business owners, vendors, suppliers and all other industry folks

  • Give us feedback using the beta version of the app

You will be helping us build an app you and many industry folks find useful. I want to build an app to help revitalize the industry - a tool to help promote the sustainability of the industry.

Please email me: hello@twoplacesjobs.com so we can discuss our next step.

I look forward to hearing from you.
